Vaccines (also known as needles or shots) help your body learn how to fight diseases. Vaccines protect babies, families, and communities from serious diseases. Many serious diseases are no longer common because of vaccines.
Most vaccines are given in childhood to protect babies and children. Sometimes protection will last for the rest of someone's life. Some adults will benefit from additional vaccines or 'boosters'.
